Our First Doctors Appointment

Today we went to our very first "pregnancy" doctors appointment. So far everything looks great! My doctor, who is a really nice person, said that everything feels about right - as far as the size of my uterus.

I am about 8.5 weeks along and my expected due date is September 1st! My doctor says on my next appointment around the end of February we should be able to hear a heartbeat!!!

They took a bunch of blood, explained what our insurance will cover and gave us an estimate of what my doctor will charge us. It was suprisingly not as much as we expected. Of course that doesn't include the hospitals bill. We got a free bag of coupons and a really neat book about pregnancy - so that was good.

So far I haven't had any morning sickness. The only real difference in how I feel is I am really really tired, and my boobs hurt/tingle like crazy. Oh, and I can taste chemicals in certain foods. You know those chocolate pudding pack thingys? I used to love those and now they taste like plastic and hairspray. Food doesn't taste the same. I had a mad craving for strawberry fanta the other day and instead just downed some orange juice on ice. That did the trick.

Paul is doing good. He's excited I think. I make him talk to the baby. Right now it's a little strange for both of us cause the baby is only the size of a small peanut, but I think every second talking to the baby and sending it our love counts!

I've noticed the cat sits on my belly a lot. I wonder if she knows. It's almost like she is keeping the baby warm or something.

Aaawwww. I'm so excited for you guys. Your life will never be the same. Good luck with that no morning sickness thing. But now is usually the time it kicks in for me. Although I have heard it's possible to not get sick. I don't buy that for a second. I always got sick until I was five months along. Yeah for babies!!!

Yahoo!! I'm excited to keep track with you the whole time. I know what you mean about the whole taste thing, though. But, don't worry, it will go away, wether it's aroung the end of pregnancy or after the baby!! Actually, just about all of your ailments will go away as soon as that baby comes out- except for the baby weight. Good luck! :)

oh for fun!! Gotta love that "goodie bag" you get at your first doctor visit. BTW, be sure Paul is changing the litter box for you! It's kinda nice to get out of some of the icky chores for 9 months ;)
